The East Union Lancers outscored Sonora in the fourth quarter.

Unfortunately, they just couldn’t score enough points to erase the massive deficit that the Wildcats had already posted, falling 61-27 at historic Dunlavy Field Friday night in Valley Oak League action.

Mark Aguilar finished the night with 105 rushing yards on 18 carries but was unable to find the end zone.

It was quarterback Aaron Ramos who posted a pair of East Union (1-8, 1-5 VOL) touchdowns – a 16-yard strike to Clay Cunial and a 10-yard dart to Jack Zeller – that gave the Lancer offense some rhythm, and when Jeremy Turner recovered a fumble and dashed into the end zone for a score East Union had a reason to celebrate.

But it would be short-lived.

Sonora (4-5, 3-3 VOL) opened the game with three touchdowns in the first quarter and posted 33 points in the second – leading the game 54-13 heading into the locker room at the half.

East Union finished the game with 317 yards of offense – 198 of which came from Ramos. Eddie Daube finished with five catches for 60 yards and Zeller finished with three catches for 31 yards and a score. Aijay Ruben had a pair of receptions for 47 yards.
