The Manteca High frosh-soph soccer squad had little trouble disposing of the visiting Ceres Bulldogs, cruising to a relatively easy 6-0 win Tuesday in Valley Oak League play.
Manteca jumped out to an early 5-0 first-half lead, adding a single gola in the second half for good measure. Jasmine Odell got the Buffaloes on the board with a goal in the game’s fifth minute and teammate Joanna Maxwell would add the next two. Maxwell made good on a header after a cross from Esmeralda Cuence and then Odell nailed two more for the first-half hat-trick.
Gabby Vazquez would close out the scoring with a second-half goal on an assist from Natalia Barajas. The Buffaloes defense held Ceres to just six shots on goal.
Sierra broke it open with offense from everywhere, getting a pair of goals from Asia Cortez and Alexis Romo in the blowout.
Nicole Moreno, Abigail Reyes, Jacques Revives and Katherine Quesida all netted goals for the Timberwolves. Sierra improved to 7-1 in VOL and 12-3-2 overall.
Manteca 7, Central Valley 4
The Buffaloes were able to get back on the winning track, taking the first of two from the Hawks with a 7-4 win.
Zach Menasco finished the contest 2 for 2 with 2-RBI double, while Alex Martinez, Jesse Encinas and Anthony Cota all went 2 for 4. Cota came around to score three times.
Mike Leland went 5 1/3, and Mark Crane came on for a perfect seventh to record the save.
Sierra (4-1, 7-4) will be at Lathrop at 4 p.m.
