The East Union boys swim team was narrowly beaten by Kimball 87-83 in a Valley Oak League dual meet in Tracy Tuesday.

The Lancers were ahead 64-60 with three events remaining, but Kimball finished 1-2-3 in the 100-yard back stroke and 1-3-5 in the 100 breast stroke. East Union’s girls also lost, 110-60.

Elijah Salas was EU’s top performer for the day. He won the 100 butterfly, was part of the winning 400 freestyle relay and qualified for the Sac-Joaquin Section Trials with a time of 2 minutes, 11.34 seconds in the 200 individual medley.

Scott Fisher took first in the 50 freestyle, and Collin Scholl claimed the 200 free. Both joined Salas and Steven Jessup for the 400 free relay.

Jennelle Macedo, Hayley Boyd and Hannah Estrella were the top producers for the East Union girls.

Macedo narrowly missed the section qualifying time in the 500 free, coming up a mere 1.54 seconds short. She clocked in with the second-place time of 6:11.53 but did win the 100 back stroke.

Estrella was almost a double-winner in the individual events. She notched first-place points in the 100 fly, but was out-touched by 7 tenths of a second in the 200 individual medley.

Boyd took first in the 100 freestyle and second in the 200 free. Her 200 free time of 2:17.40 is a new personal record. East Union’s three standouts also took second as members of the 200 medley relay. Boyd and Macedo were on the second-place 400 free relay as well.
