East Union upends Lathrop behind McGuires hat trick

LATHROP — After getting shut out at Central Catholic in its Valley Oak League opener three weeks ago, East Union broke out in a big way 9-0 drubbing of Lathrop on Wednesday.
Taysha McGuire spearheaded the barrage with three goals and an assist, while Elena Rivera added two goals and two assists.
Britney Moneyhun chipped in a goal and three assists. Julia Vigallon scored one on a nifty give-and-go from Rivera, who freed her up with a backwards heel pass to make it 3-0 in the first half. Mariana Huizar and Samantha Snyder each contributed a goal, while Chelsey Medieros had an assist.
East Union (1-1 VOL, 4-3 overall) has another long break before its next match scheduled for next Tuesday against visiting Weston Ranch. Lathrop (1-1, 1-3) plays host to Sierra on Friday. The Spartans were missing several players Wednesday, most notably freshman phenom Kassandra Ceja who is on vacation.

Sierra 11, Oakdale 0
OAKDALE — The Timberwolves (2-0, 11-1) had their way with Oakdale (0-2, 2-7), scoring eight goals in the first half and attempting 35 shots overall.
Kaleigh Doyle led scoring with two goals and a whopping six assists. Yasmin Ballew finished with a hat trick along with an assist. Jadyn Shinn scored twice and also had an assist. Kyndra Kiser, Kayley Alvarado, Yolanda Tavares and Julissa Pimentel added one goal each. Goalie Michaela Bitle racked up five saves in the shutout.

Manteca 7, Kimball 0
Jocelyn Reyes accounted for Manteca’s first three goals in the second half and also finished with two assists as the Buffaloes (2-0, 7-2-1) put forth a dominant effort against visiting Kimball (1-2, 3-9).
Carolyn Morrish scored the first goal of the match and the last, both unassisted. Sarah Vegas was on the receiving end on both of Reyes’ assists. Alexa Mayen and Jocelyn Prada each contributed an assist.
Caitlin McVeigh started at goalie and recorded three saves. Tawny Deerinck kept the sheet clean and finished it out with two saves.
