The East Union wrestling team knew this would be the final time for its seniors to shine in their home gym, giving the Lancers all the reason to put on the performance they did with a 61-15 win over Manteca and a 44-34 win over Sierra for city-wide bragging rights.

“It was senior night so we let the seniors take over and get the kids ready with the pep-talk,” East Union head coach A.J. Reindel said. “We made some adjustments with the lineup and the kids really just went out there and performed.”

The Lancers rolled with ease over the Buffaloes, scoring seven pins on their way to a route. Aaron Golden (171-lb), Devon Woodall (HWT), Marco Casteneda (130-lb), Jason Cortez (135-lb) and Ryan treat (140-lb) all notched first round pins.

Lancer Sarah Phillips tacked six on the scoreboard with a pin at the 5:52 mark.

The Lancers were able to pull off an impressive victory over Sierra, getting pins from Woodall (1:38), 112-lb Sean Wheeler (1:16), Casteneda (1:17) and Treat (:42) in the win. The Timberwolves came up just short, earning wins by pin from Jose Cortez (171-lb) and Brandon Carrier (119-lb) in defeat. Sierra fared better against the Buffaloes, outlasting Manteca 39-34 in their portion of the dual match.

Aidan Foster, Alex Nuanez and Ray Widmer all recorded pins for Sierra in their respective weight classes, while Manteca got pins from Sean Cerveny (160-lb), Aaron Smith (130-lb) and Pravjhot Chada (140-lb).
