RIPON — Ripon Christian kept Delhi scoreless in the third quarter to highlight a 56-13 victory in the first round of its own Lady  Knights Classic Monday.

Ripon Christian (4-4) shot out to a 20-4 lead but remained relentless on the defensive end throughout, even with its key players benched in the second half.

“The entire team contributed and all players saw plenty of playing time,” RC coach Kirk Tillema said.

Forward Kelsey Tillema led the way with 16 points, eight rebounds and six steals. Mikaela Alger turned in 13 points, and fellow post player RaeAnn DeRousse added seven points and eight boards.

The Knights will square off with Hilmar in the semifinal round tonight at 7:30. Hilmar defeated Venture Academy, 50-29. In other first-round contests, Oakdale beat Big Valley 62-27, and Central Catholic edged Denair 31-25.

Vanden 72, Weston Ranch 27
It was a rematch of last year’s Sac-Joaquin Section Division III playoff opener, and Monday’s contest ended no differently for Weston Ranch (6-2).

The Cougars surprised Vanden early with a 6-1 lead to end the first quarter, then the Vikings’ high-octane transition game kicked into gear.

Timnesha Wilson and Jasmine Strane led Weston Ranch with seven and six points, respectively. The Cougars will play Amador Valley of Pleasanton today in the second round of the 16-team Diamond Division.
