Ripon High did not waste the opportunity to shine brightly on its senior night, knocking off the visiting Modesto Christian Crusaders 25-15, 25-20, 25-14 Thursday in Trans Valley League play.

The Indians received a strong showing from Lizzy Nizzoli and Emily Brutout. Nizzoli turned in six kills and Brutout pulled out 19 digs. Teammates Paige Burrell (12 digs) and Paige Goodger (five kills) also made substantial contributions.

Ripon (4-4, 10-8 overall) was able to avenge its early-season loss to the Crusaders and continues a solid finish to the TVL campaign with tough showings against Riverbank, Orestimba and Hilmar. All three of the clubs’ remaining contests are on the road and will demand a high level of focus and intensity if the Indians plan on earning one of the Sac-Joaquin Section postseason berths.

“It was a group effort tonight,” Ripon head coach Adrienne Uecker said. “The girls played great, consistent volleyball. I’m very proud of all my players, especially our seniors.

“It was senior night tonight and they lead on the court and showed that they are leaders and lead by example.”

The Indians will be back on the court Monday when they travel to Riverbank for a 7 p.m. start time.
