ROUNDUP: Lathrop tennis tops Grace Davis to tally 1st win in WAC

MODESTO — Darlene Hoang blanked Adryanna Ege 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 1 singles match on Wednesday, highlighting Lathrop’s 6-3 girls tennis win over Grace Davis.
The win is Lathrop’s first in the Western Athletic Conference.
The Spartans (1-3) forfeited the No. 3 doubles match, but it did not matter. They claimed five of the six singles matches, getting two-set wins from Bernice Vilches (6-1, 6-2), Tammy Pham (6-1, 6-4), Harman Garcha (6-0, 6-1) and Kim Bareng (6-1, 6-1). No. 6 player Elizabeth Timbreza dropped a competitive match to Daylin Macias, 3-6, 4-6.
Shania Leyva and Harleen Bal contributed a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Yolanda Sanchez and Sariya Heidelberg King at No. 2 doubles. Grace Davis’ top doubles team of Yarel Garcia and Leilani Rodriguez defeated Jocelyn Lat and Amanda Fernandez, 6-4, 6-2.

Manteca 9, Oakdale 0
Undefeated Manteca (5-0 Valley Oak League, 9-0 overall) can now shift its focus on Central Catholic after shutting out Oakdale.
Central Catholic visits the Buffaloes next Tuesday for a first-place showdown. They tuned up with a dominant effort, getting a 6-0, 6-0 win from Makenna Condit in the No. 3 singles spot. Julia Tang (6-3, 6-0), Sahiba Kaur (6-4, 6-2), Kerren Zou (6-2, 6-1), Yanki Ma (7-5, 6-1) and Melissa Poncini (6-2, 6-0) also swept.
No. 1 doubles partners Noeli Mercado and Isabella Huerta prevailed, 6-2, 6-1. Danielle Diaz and Kalissa Martin cruised to a 6-1, 6-3 win. The No. 3 tandem of Charleen Magdayalog and Amorina Tse preserved the shutout with a three-set triumph.

Central Catholic 9, East Union 0
MODESTO — The Raiders (5-0, 7-1) had their way with East Union, notching 6-0, 6-0 sweeps at No. 1, 3 and 6 singles and No. 3 doubles.
Chloe Agueda was the most competitive Lancer with a 2-6, 2-6 loss to Mia Miligi at No. 5 singles. Savanah Hudson and Alisha Costa’s comeback bid in the No. 2 doubles match fell short, 0-6, 3-6.

GOLF
Valley Oak League
STOCKTON — Oakdale tallied a 424 score at Van Buskirk Golf Course to win the second of four 18-hole matches in the VOL. Andrea York was low medalist with an 81, and the Mustangs had all six of their players finish in the 80s.
Kimball placed second with a 503 and was led by Kayla Naldo. Third-place East Union, Central Catholic, Manteca, Sierra and host Weston Ranch did not register a qualifying score.
The next VOL match takes place Sept. 25 at Tracy Country Club.

Ripon 148, Summerville 176
RIPON — The Indians (7-1) routed Summerville (6-2) in a Valley Foothill League North Division match between second-place teams.
Bianca Toledo led all players with a 3-over-par 34 at Jack Tone Golf Course. Zoe Bremer scored a 35, Myra Toledo a 38 and Kaley Meece a 41. Jamie Hyder paced Summerville with a 37.
