Adrian Zuniga was near perfect Thursday when the Lathrop baseball team defeated visiting Edison 2-0 for its first win of the season.

The senior amassed 13 strikeouts in a no-hitter, walking just one. The defense did not commit an error behind him.

Zuniga got all the run support he needed in the third and fourth innings, when Adrian Gallardo and Carson Scott each had RBI singles. Omare Cross also had a hit in a game ruled by pitching.

Izaak Navarrete, Ethan Balanon and Santiago Moreno combined to throw a three-hitter for Edison (1-1).

The Spartans (1-3) will next face Stagg on the road on Monday.

Ripon Christian 9, Escalon 2

The Knights (2-2) plated three runs in the top of the first and continued to tack on the insurance runs from there.

Jordan Luisi (two runs, four hits, two walks, seven strikeouts) threw the middle three innings for the win, and Dustin Hoekstra struck out the side in the seventh.
