The Sierra baseball team took advantage of 10 errors, and Riley Kane pitched a five-inning two-hitter in a stunning 10-0 win over visiting Oakdale on Monday.
The Mustangs (9-7, 16-9 overall) are one of four Valley Oak League teams in the top 16 of MaxPreps’ Sac-Joaquin Section rankings, and Georgia-signed ace pitcher Landon Schutte (four innings, hit, two walks, eight strikeouts) threw the first four innings but was done in by defensive miscues. All 10 of the opportunistic Timberwolves’ runs are unearned.
Sierra (4-12, 11-15), coming off a series loss to Patterson, only had four hits and plated all of its runs in the final three innings. Cole Martin plated three runs, knocked in another and hit a double. Brody Kossart went 2 for 3 with two runs and an RBI.
Ryan Reyes and Noah Valdivia each added an RBI.
The Timberwolves backed their pitcher with error-free defense. Kane collected five strikeouts against no walks in his gem.
