LOS BANOS — The Lathrop girls water polo team set a new season-high for goals scored in its 18-9 loss at Los Banos on Thursday.
The Spartans boys were defeated 10-2, and both first-year squads remain winless in the Western Athletic Conference.
Sophia Serrano anchored the Lathrop girls’ attack, finishing with a four goals. Amaya Terry, Alexa Ortiz-McCollum, Maryjane Bergren, Makayla Ruiz and Samreen Bal each scored one. Alana Watkins racked up four goals for Los Banos.
Isaac Bermudez and Christian Buerster were goal scorers for the Lathrop boys. Los Banos’ Will Hoyle had a game-high four goals.

VOLLEYBALL
Central Catholic 3, Sierra 0
First-place Central Catholic (5-0 VOL, 11-4 overall) swept, 25-11, 25-19, 25-7.
Abby Castillon clobbered 15 kills, while Devan Brasil served eight aces for the Raiders The Timberwolves (1-5, 5-5) were led by Stella Brierly’s three kills and two aces. Kylie Machado and Becca Thomson also served a pair of aces each.

Ripon Christian 3, Delhi 0
DELHI — The Southern League-leading Knights (6-0, 11-3) cruised to a 25-26, 25-16, 25-7 victory
Morgan Van Elderen (seven digs) and Emily Van Groningen (two blocks) headed the attack with 11 and 10 kills, respectively. Alexis Hilvers added eight kills and four blocks.

GIRLS GOLF
Sierra 290, Weston Ranch 360
Sierra’s Mikella Manto shot 4-over 40 at Manteca Park Golf Course, while match runner-up Julia Erdman finished with a 53.
Madison Willox (62), Anna Dickinson (65) and Mackenzie Funk (70) rounded out scoring for the Timberwolves. Deena Faruqi led Weston Ranch with a 65.

GIRLS TENNIS
Manteca 9, East Union 0
The Buffaloes (10-0, 16-1) are a win away from securing at least a share of their fourth consecutive VOL title.
They had little resistance in dispatching their cross-town rival on Thursday, giving up just five games. Katie Kim beat Karina Schambeck 6-0, 6-2 in the No. 1 singles match. Ellie Kim, Sahiba Kaur, Kerren Zou, Yanki Ma and Kalissa Martin all scored 6-0, 6-0 shutouts. Doubles winners were Melissa Poncini/Jenna Poncini (6-0, 6-1), Raveen Nijjar/Aleena James (6-0, 6-1) and Charlene Madayog/Alyson Tse (6-0, 6-1).

The Timberwolves pulled it out, 26-24, 17-25, 15-11.
Jenna Dalen spearheaded the attack with 15 assists and two kills. Alyssa Teicheira (three aces, kill), Elaina Threet (four kills, three aces), Erica Tovar (four kills, three aces) and Leilani Fabian (three kills) also made key contributions.

Frosh volleyball

Sierra battled back for a 17-25, 25-15, 15-13 win.
Amelia Hernandez tallied four kills and four aces, Cadence Fernandez rapped five kills and Rebecca Sutton handed out 12 assists.
