Squires handle Oakdale by 11

The East Union Lancers opened up a double-digit lead in the first half and never relinquished, dropping the visiting Oakdale Mustangs 66-55 in Valley Oak League action.

The Lancers walked into the intermission with a comfortable 17 point cushion and fought off a late Oakdale rally to hold on for the win.

Alex Delrio led all scorers with 22 points, while Wayne Chung added 13 and Brandon Kline finished in double-digits with 11.

The Lancers will try and continue with their solid play when they play host to the Weston Ranch Cougars Friday.

Sonora 56, Lathrop 49
SONORA -- The Wildcats opened up the contest on 16-0 run, giving the Spartans an uphill battle they would not conquer.

Ricky Chavez paced Lathrop with a 17-point effort and Marcus Connelly finished with 15.

Ceres 64, Weston Ranch 62
CERES – The Cougars came up just short, dropping Wednesday’s VOL road game. Dillon Alexander led Weston Ranch with 22 points, while teammate Demetrius Kelly chipped in 17.

FRESHMAN
Manteca 46, Central Valley 36
The Buffaloes (4-1) were led by Rashawn Bell led the charge with 12 points and teammate Rodney Fryer chipped in 11. Ryan Fox and Nick Burrows added eight apiece.

East Union 53, Oakdale 29
The Lancers (3-1) made quick work of the visiting Mustangs. Will Brink paced East Union with 14 points.

Weston Ranch 59, Ceres 39
Zerrion Payton led the charge for the Cougars, finishing with 14 points, while Lucky Tango and Albert Luyon both chipped in with 10.
