The East Union Lancers only had one participant in the Sac-Joaquin Section Swimming Trials Thursday at Tokay High in Lodi, but Julia DeGroot made the most of the trip, earning a berth into the finals Saturday in a pair of events.
DeGroot will advance in the 100-fly and the 500-free, competing in the consolation bracket in the events final meet. Manteca High’s Davina Bennett’s season came to a close in the 50-free, as did teammates Cari Cail, Sierra Roberts and Amanda Christensen who teamed up in the 200-medley relay but fell short.
The boys division will have their swim trials today beginning at 10 a.m., setting up Saturday’s finals for both divisions.
