Weberg comes through for EU with 3-set win

East Union won its first match of the season 5-4 against visiting Lathrop on Tuesday, getting a big point from Mandi Weberg at No. 3 singles.
Weberg prevailed in the lone three-set contest of the match, outlasting Beatrice Vilches 2-6, 6-0, 6-4. Natalie Karim held off Kimberley Victoria 7-5, 6-2 for another key win for the Lancers (1-2).
East Union’s Marilyn Civil (6-0, 6-0) and Cynthia Civil (6-1, 6-3) also claimed singles victories, while Hailey Gosney and Nicole Meza (6-1, 6-2) cruised to a win at No. 1 doubles.
No. 2 singles Angela Alegado (6-0, 6-3), No. 4 Eden Baca (6-0, 6-1), No. 2 doubles Maya Ortiz/Erica Garlit (6-4, 6-4) and No. 3 doubles Leslie Barraza/Arandeep Dhaliwal (7-6, 6-4) picked up points for Lathrop.

The most competitive match was at No. 1 singles, where Taylor Corona dispatched Jaskirat Kaur, 6-4, 6-3). Other winners for Manteca were Koryn Menasco (6-1, 6-1), Julia Tang (6-0, 6-0), Stephania Mercado (6-1, 6-0), Gladis Sandoval (6-0, 6-0), Makenna Condit (6-0, 6-2), Navina Mann/Ravneet Dhillon (6-1, 6-0), Julianne Eavenson/Noeli Mercado (6-1, 6-2) and Monica Lozano/Prerna Singh (6-0, 6-0).

Coming off its first loss, the Timberwolves (2-1) had their way with the defending champions at Manteca Regional Tennis Center.
