Manteca’s boys basketball team was defeated by St. Patrick-St. Vincent of Vallejo 70-56 this past Saturday in the NorCal Sports TV Showcase on Saturday at Capital Christian.
The Bruins (10-3) raced to a 21-11 first-quarter lead and held on from there.
Peyton Neiman paced Manteca (11-7) with 22 points, and Evani Gaeta pumped in 11.
The Buffaloes have dropped four of their last five and will look to get back on track Wednesday when they host rival Sierra for a Valley Oak League clash.

The Spartans opened their Western Athletic Conference schedule last Wednesday at Mountain House.
Santiago Arranaga (126), Damian Ceja-Ramirez (157), Lauro Lupian (175), Nathan Martinez (190) and Julio Garcia (heavyweight) all contributed pinfall victories.
Lathrop dropped the JV match, 30-18.

The Timberwolves (2-0 VOL, 14-4 overall) notched their fourth straight win Saturday.
Julian Ruiz led them with 16 points, while Cody Camarena and Colby Vueve scored 12 apiece. Camarena made four 3-pointers.

Sierra 50, River Islands 31
Sierra (1-1, 9-6 overall) dominated the VOL contest behind Karanbir Bhandal’s 13 points.
Ryan Alves buried three 3s and scored 11 points. C.J. Simas added eight points.
