Lewis 51 gets it done for Lancers in tight contest

Evan Lewis’ 51 Thursday at Manteca Park Golf Course turned out to be the difference in a 221-222 East Union win over Sonora.

Considering the blustery conditions, it could be argued that East Union’s 221 was far more impressive than its 218 shot against Sierra a day earlier.

Either way, it’s clear that East Union has turned a corner.

“We’re starting to come together,” EU head coach Dennis Wells said. “We’re going to have a chance to collect revenge against those teams that got us the first time around.”

EU took its revenge with Kyle Harman and Tanner Bragg both turning in 42’s.

Jordan Duvall and Guillermo Barajas stepped it up again, this time with a pair of 43’s.

Ryan Plum had a 52 for a respectable throw-out.

“Great scores,” Wells said. “I couldn’t be more proud of them.”

East Union (5-3 VOL) heads to Van Buskirk for a match with Weston Ranch Tuesday.

Oakdale 224, Manteca 264

Kenny Summers turned in a 46 Thursday at Oakdale Golf and Country Club in the loss.

Jeremy Resuello shot a 49, nick Gonzales a 54, Casey Benson a 56 and Jared Woolf a 59.

Austin Whitworth took home medalist honors for the Mustangs with a 3-over-par 39.
