MODESTO (AP) -- Evan White homered and had two hits, and Nick Wells allowed just three hits over six innings as the Modesto Nuts beat the Lake Elsinore Storm 3-1 on Friday.
Seth Elledge struck Hudson Potts out with a runner on first to end the game for his eighth save of the season.
Wells (1-1) picked up the win after he struck out seven while allowing one run.
Trailing 1-0 in the sixth, Lake Elsinore tied it up when Buddy Reed scored on an error.
Modesto answered in the bottom of the inning, scoring two runs to take the lead. Luis Liberato hit an RBI single en route to the two-run lead.
Pedro Avila (3-6) went 5 1/3 innings, allowing three runs and seven hits in the California League game. He also struck out four and walked two.
