SALIDA — Spreckels Park bounced back from an opening-round loss in the District 67 Senior All-Star Tournament and defeated Tracy-American 11-2 in a consolation contest Thursday at Salida Elementary School.

Spreckels Park used five pitchers — Abraham Velasco, Diego Duarte, David Reyes, Dylan Heath and Jared Bagley — to limit Tracy American to six hits while combining for eight strikeouts. Keeping the pitch counts low allows Spreckels Park to have all pitchers available in future games.

Bagley hustled his way to Spreckels Park’s first run in the opening inning. Bagley legged out an infield single and got to second on Chase Sperbeck’s groundout. When Bagley stole third the throw sailed into the outfield, allowing him to plate the first run.

Spreckels Park combined four hits with two walks and a Tracy-American error to put up six runs in the second inning. The big hit of the inning was a two-RBI single by Abraham Velasco that scored Kenny Wade and Sperbeck with Derek Rosendin knocking in Hunter Frisk (3 for 4, double) on an error. Sperbeck doubled in Rosendin while Reyes and J.T. Ortiz-Martinez scored on wild pitches.

Rosendin plated Frisk in the third inning on another error. Wade drew an RBI when he was hit with a pitch in the seventh inning with the bases loaded that scored Trey Richer and Spreckels Park got its last run when Bagley hit a sacrifice fly to score Frisk.

Spreckels Park plays Salida on Saturday at 5 p.m. in a consolation game.
