In Northgate Little League action, the Red Sox used a five-run first inning and a five-run fourth inning to squeak past the Yankees 13-11 in second-round minor division playoff action this past Saturday.

The Red Sox used the five-run fourth inning to go ahead by six runs, but the Yankees would not go quietly, fighting back with four runs in the top of the fifth to cut the deficit to two. That would be as close as the Yankees would get.

Kyle Dorland paced the Yankees with a pair of doubles and Daniel Ruiz assisted with a single and a double in the Red Sox win.

Nicholas Sims led the Yankees with two hits and two RBIs, while both Mark Rodriguez and Brandon Gustufson added singles. Tyler Slaughter chipped in with a two-RBI triple.
