Jacob Souza produced a gem to remember for the Spreckels Park Major Division A’s on Opening Day Saturday, leading a 4-0 shutout of the Indians.
Souza tossed a complete-game no-hitter and walked one while getting all 18 outs through strikes. He was also 3 for 3 with a triple and two RBIs.
Stephen Halleck contributed two RBIs in his 2-for-3 effort. Steven Rios (triple) and Joshua LeLaurin were each 3 for 3, and Joey Parrapato added a double while going 2 for 3.
Tyler Fitch drove in two runs and plated three more while going 2 for 2. Austin Blair, Victor Robles, Hunter Halleck and Mike Esparza also contributed offensively.
Andrew Sena pitched the final inning also chipped in a hit, run and RBI on offense.
Pele Nines and Vinnie Mejia chipped in two hits apiece for the Bisons. Tyler Kiser highlighted the defense with an unassisted double play.
United (9-2-3) battled to a 1-1 draw in regulation in the championship round before prevailing in a shootout.
The Rage 15 Red took fifth in the Northern California Volleyball Association Silver Division Power League 1 Tournament at Edison. The Rage defeated the Marin Jrs. 25-11, 25-16 in the fifth-place match.
Leading the team in the four tournament matches were setter Arianna Martinez (68 assists), defensive specialist Maddie Barth (29 digs), outside hitters Melissa Brum (27 kills) and Sierrah Miller (16 kills, two blocks) and middle blockers Ariana Salazar (10 kills, 10 blocks) and Tyler White (10 kills, nine blocks).
The 17 Red squad placed fourth in the Open Division at the Colorado Crossroads National Qualifier, the 15 Black won the Power League 1 Tournament and the 14 Area finished third in league.

Eric Nascimento blasted a grand slam in the fourth inning, and Jacob Frisk added a solo shot in the same frame to lead the Northgate Bisons to victory.
