Dezmin Ware’s 40-yard touchdown was the only offensive highlight for the Manteca Jr. Buffaloes varsity team in a 30-6 loss to the host Turlock Vikings in the Central California Junior Football League AFC conference playoffs on Saturday.

Ware finished with 66 yards rushing and 89 passing. His top target was Jimmy Mootz, who had 70 receiving yards.

Clayton Hatle recorded two quarterback sacks on defense. Tyler Brintley and Noe Saldivar tied for the team lead with four tackles.

Manteca ends the season with a 5-6 record. The Vikings face the top-seeded Buhach Thunder in the conference championship.

Junior varsity

Jr. Buffaloes 38, Thunder 6

Spearheaded by Jacob DeJesus, Kyle Jackson and a dominant offensive line, the No. 1-seeded Jr. Buffaloes (10-1) blasted the Buhach Thunder at Atwater High to advance to the AFC championship game.

DeJesus and Jackson compiled 96 rushing yards apiece while combining for five touchdown runs. Isaac Searcy contributed a touchdown and two pass deflections on defense. Kevin Thornburg paced the defensive unit with 13 tackles.

The Jr. Buffaloes (10-1) face off with No. 2 Turlock this Saturday back at Atwater High. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.

Turlock 22, Jr. Buffaloes 0

Manteca (5-6) was limited to less than 50 yards rushing at Turlock High. Dylan DePrater’s 31 yards made up the bulk of the team’s offense.

Eduardo Lomeli led the defense with eight tackle. Bryan Howe and Colton Stonum each racked up seven stops.

Merced 27, Jr. Buffaloes 0

Peyton Nieman led the charge for the Jr. Buffs with 52 yards rushing.

Gage Pfeifer finished with six tackles and a sack. Bryson McMichael chipped in four tackles and a sack.
