RIVERBANK — Ripon has been knocked out of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America/adidas Region VI rankings despite not losing a game, but the Indians continue to control what they can.
Regardless, Ripon, which was No. 10 in the March 31 poll, has its unbeaten record still intact after crushing Riverbank 6-1 Monday.
Ripon improved to 11-0 in the Trans Valley League and 18-0-1 overall and has done so with its top player, Ariel Anaya, nursing a sore knee for most of the season. On Monday, the Indians were also minus wing forward Meredith Perkins and speedy reserve freshman Katherine Ratto, but it didn’t seem to matter.
Junior striker Renae McFadden shouldered the load offensively, scoring four goals (13th, 32nd, 50th, 58th minutes) and assisting another. McFadden now has 35 goals on the season, good for second most in the Sac-Joaquin Section.
Kallie Jacobs added two goals and her second, crossed beautifully by McFadden, capped the final score with 18 minutes left.
Thalia Bobadilla, Lauren Goeppert and Kate Isganitis each chipped in an assist.
The Indians can clinch their third straight TVL championship against Modesto Christian at home Wednesday.
