RIPON — The Indians played through the rain Tuesday at Spring Creek Country Club and came away with a win, 231-238, over Modesto Christian.
Daniel Cardoza triple bogeyed Hole 9 and still finished with a 7-over-par 43.
“He hit a bad tee shot, then took a risky second out of the trees,” Ripon head coach Chris Musseman said.
Jake Ratto also turned in a 43, while Josh Richter and Mark Bigelow finished with 47s.
Matty Gay returned after a nearly two week hiatus to card a 51.
“Richter is in a bit of a slump, but it was nice to have Matty back,” Musseman said. “We played OK.”
Ripon improved to 6-1 in Trans Valley League play.
“I don’t know if anyone will catch Escalon, but we have a chance to compete for second,” Musseman said. “We have a shot of getting out of our league tournament, and that’s our goal right now.”
The Indians take on Ripon Christian at Spring Creek this afternoon.
