SUBMITTING RESULTS
The Bulletin encourages youth and recreation teams of all leagues from Manteca, Lathrop, Ripon and Weston Ranch to submit their results. You may drop off game information at the Bulletin office on 531 E. Yosemite, or e-mail Sports Editor Jonamar Jacinto at jjacinto@mantecabulletin.com. Please note which league and team you are representing, the age division of the game played, the date of which the game was played, final scores, standout performers with first and last names and any additional game highlights. Results must be submitted by Monday, 5 p.m., as the Bulletin’s youth roundup runs Tuesdays. Results with incomplete information will not be entered.
The Titans and Pirates opened the Spreckels Park Little League junior-division season Saturday at Brock Elliot School with a bang.
And in the end it was the Titans who banged the loudest in their 15-7 victory. The Titans broke away from a 6-6 tie going into the seventh inning with a big seventh-inning surge.
Makana Ward gave the Titans the lead for good with a bases-loaded single. William Reeder led the Titans’ hit parade with a 3-for-5 effort and four RBIs. Jayson Manuta was 2 for 5 with three runs scored.
Manuta was also the winning pitcher, as he worked the final three innings and struck out five will giving up a pair of unearned runs. Alex Jorgensen got the start, cruising through four innings and fanning five.
Jesus Esquivel did his job on the mound for the Pirates but got little help from the defense. He struck out eight batters, and only one of the five runs scored on him was earned.
At Brock Elliot School Saturday, Steven Hinkston, Dylann Heath, Patrick Silveira and Jonathan Vargas combined for 15 strikeouts from the hill for the Brewers.
Michael Ochoa led the offense with two singles and two RBIs. Hinkston and Heath each contributed an RBI hit.
The Manteca Pumas battled the Stockton Flames tough in a 3-2 loss Saturday. The Pumas (4-1-1) are competing against older teams with not enough under-10 clubs signed up.
Isabella Rivera and Ariana Cardenas each had a goal. Rosalia Ravelo and Selia Torres took turns guarding the Pumas’ goal. Leah Manuleleua and Kyra Bristow played well defensively.
