Manteca is home to one of the nation’s top McDonald’s restaurant managers.

Maira Meza, manager at the 1137 East Lathrop Road McDonald’s restaurant in Manteca, recently received the Ray Kroc Award, an annual performance-based award that recognizes the top performing McDonald’s restaurant managers in the country. Named after McDonald’s Corporation founder Ray Kroc, the award was established thirteen years ago in 1999 to honor hardworking restaurant managers – those who make Ray Kroc’s vision of excellence come to life in restaurants and for customers each day.

A select 142 managers were chosen this year to receive the Ray Kroc Award, an honor that comes with a cash prize, a Ray Kroc award trophy, ring and pin and a trip to Chicago for an awards gala on April 3 hosted by McDonald’s USA President, Jan Fields. The banquet will take place at the Fairmont Chicago.

Meza has worked at McDonald’s for 10 years as a valued manager, working at the Lathrop Road restaurant for the last 18 months. Meza received the award for demonstrating outstanding management skills in the restaurant and for developing the employees she supervises.  In the past year, Meza has developed seven managers, and created a system that all the employees recognize as an opportunity for advancement.  Meza’s ability to train her employees in an efficient manner has been a model that several other general managers throughout the McDonald’s system have used to train and retain their employees.   All these activities reinforce her commitment to being a contributing member of the community as well as a valued McDonald’s employee.
