Classified school employees earn SJC recognition

San Joaquin County Office of Education named six exemplary school employees as the county’s 2010 Classified School Employees of the Year.

Fredrick A. Wentworth, Superintendent of Schools, will formally honor the six award recipients on May 18 at a recognition ceremony at San Joaquin County Office of Education (Education Service Center, 2707 Transworld Drive, Stockton).

The recipients from San Joaquin County are:

•Child Nutrition: Mary Patterson has served as cafeteria manager I for Ansel Adams Elementary of Lodi Unified for the past 15 years.

•Para-Educator: Sandy Elliot is a 29-year veteran as an instructional assistant at San Joaquin County Office of Education’s Redwood School.

•Transportation: Marjorie Duran has worked as a school bus driver for five years in Lodi Unified.

*Office & Technical: Secretary to the Director of Teacher Development, Nancy Thissen, has been serving Manteca Unified for nine years. “Nancy Thissen quietly makes a difference for young people in the community and for office managers, teachers and administrators throughout the school district. She serves both her work community as well as the larger community of Manteca with a smile on her face and a willing heart,” said Bonnie Bennett, director of teacher development for Manteca Unified.

*Maintenance and Operations: Debra Rouppet, maintenance I for Lodi Unified has been serving the district of three years.

*Support Services & Security: Debby Keene-Ferrero has been serving as an outreach worker for Tully Knoles School of Lincoln Unified for 16 years. “
