Thieves raided the Manteca Towing storage yard in the 3700 block of West Yosemite Avenue sometime Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning creating some $10,000 in losses.

Facility owner Dennis King said his firm is responsible for the damage and losses to the vehicles that were stored on his property where six cars were damaged and three sets of wheels were removed from cars and trucks.  King said he believes the exact time was between midnight and 6 a.m.

A 2001 Mercedes was jacked up with thieves attempting to remove the wheels, but they apparently didn’t have the right tools to do the job, he said.  A 2007 GMC truck was also damaged as was a 2000 Dodge Neon.

King said the dashboard was removed in an attempt to get inside the glove box and its contents.
