MODESTO – Modesto Junior College will hold Spirit Team and mascot try-outs on Saturday, March 22, from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Gymnasium located on East Campus.

There are positions available on the cheer squad, as well as for the two college mascots. High school seniors or graduates planning on attending MJC, as well as continuing MJC students, are invited to try out for the team. The Spirit Team and mascots will cheer and entertain at MJC’s fall and spring sports during the 2014-2015 academic year.

MJC is seeking individuals with either cheerleader or dance experience and the auditions are open to both men and women. Students who are selected for the Spirit Team or as mascots must enroll in a minimum of 6 units at MJC for the fall semester that begins August 25, 2014. They are not required to be a full time MJC student. There will be a cost for Spirit Team uniforms and warm-up outfits for those selected to participate.

Attendance from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. is required for all try-outs. Mascot try-out candidates are required to have their own choreographed routine and should bring their music CD with them.

Women are asked to wear shorts, non-crop tops and tennis shoes to the try-outs. Men are asked to wear warm-up pants, t-shirt and tennis shoes.

For more information on the auditions contact Linda Cabral, MJC Spirit Team coach, at (209) 634-6846 or cabrall@mjc.edu.
