In these tough economic times, Carol Davis greatly appreciates any and all donations to her non-profit organization.
Last week, the executive director of Give Every Child A Chance received just that from Arvin Reed of Manteca’s Arvin Home Systems.
As an active member of the community, Arvin also sponsors some of the local Little League teams not to mention its support of the Boys & Girls Club and Girl Scouts.
In fact, Arvin’s recent $500 donation to Give Every Child A Chance was made possible via a small percentage – or $1 – from each customer’s monthly monitoring payment.
In a newsletter to its consumers: “We find ourselves motivated to ramp it up now that the economy is in a downturn and donation tend to slack off in times like these. So, we’ve decided, at no cost to you, to have you contribute as well.”
Besides home security, Arvin, located at 334-A N. Main St., handles beam built-in vacuums, intercom systems and home theater.
Meanwhile, Davis said that 100 percent of the donations will go back to students of the tutorial program.
This includes snacks, books, paper and other resources.
Give Every Child A Chance kicked off in 1998 with a single site and 13 tutors. Since then, the program has emerged as a unique organization dedicated to helping children reach their full potential while expanding into the surrounding communities.
