As of Tuesday, 66.3 percent of all Manteca residents old enough to receive COVID-19 shots are fully vaccinated.
Another 10.1 percent have their first shot meaning 76.4 percent of residents are fully or partially vaccinated.
That fully or partially vaccinated number for Lathrop is 89.3 percent, Ripon 69.1 percent, Escalon 94.2 percent, Tracy 89.6 percent, Stockton 75 percent, and Lodi 72.8 percent.
In the past week there have been 154 new cases in Manteca, 49 in Lathrop, 26 in Ripon, 14 in Escalon, 137 in Tracy, 129 in Lodi, and 569 in Stockton.
Since the start of the pandemic there have been 124 deaths in Manteca, 25 in Lathrop, 23 in Ripon, 13 in Escalon, 179 in Lodi, 92 in Tracy, and 804 in Stockton,
Manteca Unified now has 82 students and staff positive for COVID-19.
It is the highest number to date. It is lower than many other districts in California and substantially lower than in schools elsewhere in the United States were vaccination rates lag behind the Golden State and masks are not required in classrooms.
As of last week the Manteca Unified COVID dashboard indicated 77 students were positive and 5 staff members. That is up from the previous week when there were 52 students and 16 staff testing positive for COVID. That is out of more than 26,000 students and staff.
Being positive doesn’t mean a person shows symptoms or will become ill.
Manteca Unified is now working on implementing Gov. Gavin Newsom’s mandate for all school staff to be either vaccinated or submit to weekly testing.
Manteca Unified three weeks ago indicated 69 percent of the district’s 3,000 teachers and support staff were fully vaccinated. That meant roughly 900 teachers and support staff needed to get vaccinated or submit to weekly testing.
School staff, like students, have been required to wear face masks since school started last week.
