Two homes on Golf Circle East were destroyed while a third suffered major damage in a fire that ripped through the residential area early Friday morning.

The cause of the fire in the neighborhood southwest of Union Road and Crom and nestled against the Manteca municipal golf course driving range is currently under investigation

Crews from the Manteca Fire Department were on scene long after the flames had been extinguished to put out all potential hot spots while the work to find out what was started the blaze was underway.

Known in colloquial terms due to their unique shape, the zero-lot-line homes are situated in close proximity to one another – prompting firefighters to take a defensive position upon arriving on scene Friday morning to ensure that the fire didn’t continue to spread to adjacent structures.

Responding fire crews called for a 3rd alarm after arriving on scene, and units from the Lathrop Manteca Fire District, the Ripon Consolidated Fire District, and the South San Joaquin County Fire Authority responded to assist.

The fires were extinguished within two hours, and there were no injuries reported.
