The Happy Wheelers are conducting a yard sale Saturday, May 25, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 165 Watson Ave. off West Yosemite Avenue across from SaveMart.

The Happy Wheelers are a support group of mobility challenged individuals mostly in wheelchairs and electric scooters.

The group was founded in 1992 by Martha Nelson who had crippling arthritis. She was the wife of the Lutheran minister.

She thought similarly handicapped individuals in their congregation and throughout the community would benefit from meeting periodically to share ideas, coping trucks, new ways to deal with daily tasks, and just to socialize with those facing similar challenges.

The Happy Wheelers meet monthly at the United Lutheran Church social hall on Northgate Drive. They usually conduct a themed potluck snack/luncheon. They also have a newsletter.

They always welcome new members and more mobile helpers.
