Hobby Lobby could open a Manteca store

Burlington’s decision to relocate from South Main Street to the Stadium Retail Center may not leave a big space to fill in the Mission Ridge Shopping Center where the discount clothing and home goods store is now located.

It’s because Hobby Lobby is considering taking over the space that is within six miles of 145,000 consumers in Manteca, Lathrop/River Islands, and Ripon.

Burlington’s move will be into the former JoAnn Fabrics store.

Not only is it more “right-sized” for the retail model Burlington has evolved into, but  the location will allow it to build off the synergy of a half dozen over clothing and shoe stores in Stadium Retail Center with the largest being Kohi’s.

More retail space at

Atherton and Airport

The groundbreaking Monday for the 55,000-square-foot Food-Less also means another 19,800 square feet of in-line retail space will be built.

Some of it will be attached to the Food-4-Less.

The rest will go on two separate pads — one west of Chick-fil-A and one west of where Crumbl Cookies and other dining options are going along Atherton Drive west of the Quick Quack car wash.

The developer only has two spaces left to lease in the first phase where a Maverik fueling station is now being built.

It will be Manteca’s largest fueling station with 14 gas pumps and eight commercial pump stations.

The convenience store at 6,140 square feet might also end up being the largest of that genre in Manteca as well.

It will also include outdoor picnic tables and an RV dump.
