STOCKTON — Thanks to an early barrage at the plate Thursday evening and a pitching committee that limited the Manteca Brewers to one run until the last inning, the Ripon Dodgers prevailed 10-4 in the consolation quarterfinal and advance to the consolation semifinal against Northgate this afternoon at 5:30 at August Knodt School.

Ripon’s Bradley Kiest toed the rubber to start and pitched 1.2 innings, picking up all five of his outs by strikeout and allowing just two hits. He was relieved by Mason Fisher who pitched into the third, allowing one hit and no runs.

Twin brother Madden Fisher came in with two out and the bases loaded in the third, notching a strikeout to end the Brewers threat. He finished with four strikeouts, yielding one hit and one run.

Dodgers leadoff batter Hudson Nieweg proved to be a tough out, going 3 for 3 with two RBI and two runs. He led Ripon to a 10-0 lead after two innings with the Dodgers scoring the maximum-allowed five runs per inning.

Nieweg, Austin Gutierrez (two runs) and Madden Fisher (3 for 3, two runs) started the first inning with consecutive hits followed by a walk to Mason Fisher (two walks, RBI). The inning ended on a groundout by Zackary deVisser that plated Beckham Beauchamp, giving the Dodgers their fifth run.

Behind a two-RBI single by Nieweg and a pair of bases-loaded walks to Bradley Kiest and Beauchamp, Ripon bumped its lead to 10-0 after two innings.

David Necrete singled for Manteca in the second and scored on a bases-loaded walk to Jowan Singh to make the score 0-1.

Roman Delao (2 for 3, run) led off the Brewers fourth with a single and came all the way around to score on a series of errors by the Dodgers. Jaxton Delao walked and Rowan Dahle reached on an error with both coming in to score on a Rory Bryson for the game’s final runs.
