The Manteca High Visual and Performing Arts Department, in conjunction with the Advanced Floral and Fashion Merchandising classes, will host the Annual Night of the Arts Thursday at Winter Gymnasium.
The various genres will be on display from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The top pieces will be submitted to the Manteca Unified District Art Show later this month.
Included will be the following:
Advanced Placement Studio Art – This year introduced the first section of 32 students enrolled in this AP class, with 12 submitting their portfolio for examination come next month. Instructor Cyndi Esenwein was inspired by DeYoung’s partnership with local San Francisco florists in the annual Bouquet of Art exhibit. She invited Ag teacher Heather Nolan’s Advanced Floral class to work in collaboration with her AP students in creating floral arrangements that coordinate with each of the artists’ pieces.
Other Art projects – The works of Jiana Boudreaux’s Color and Design classes will be put brightly on display. Her Intro to Art students will showcase their works in a variety of mediums.
Digital Photography – Students in Carol Creighton’s classes will provide some interesting perspectives around the MHS campus along with a variety of photos taken outside of school.
Fashion Merchandising – Angie Anaya’s students will be showcasing window displays featuring how pop culture and art can influence fashion trends.
Theater Tech – Dawn Coyan’s students will exhibit 3D stage models as well as costume drawings.
uMusic – Under the directions of Anthony Dahl, Cody Marchetti and Andrew Hildebrand, students in wind ensemble, guitar, piano and choir will be performing throughout the evening.
