Are you ready for some football?

Super Bowl LIII is this Sunday featuring perennial contenders and five-time champions New England Patriots taking on the up-and-coming Los Angeles Rams at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

This is a rematch from 17 years ago. Back then, Tom Brady had just replaced an injured Drew Bledsoe at quarterback earlier that season while leading the Patriots to a 20-17 victory over the then St. Louis Rams a.k.a. the Greatest Show on Turf.

New England along with Brady and coach Bill Belichick are accustomed to the big stage, with this being their ninth time in the Super Bowl. For the Rams, 2002 is a distance memory.

As for events for that day, the Manteca Rotary is hosting its annual Super Bowl Omelet-Pancake at the MRPS Hall, 133 N. Grant St., from 7:30 a.m. to noon.

Cost is $10. Tickets are available at the door.
