A week of “Unity in the Community” activities are being coordinated by the Ripon Police Department starting Thursday, July 29.

It is an expansion of National Night Out activities designed to get neighbors to know each other better and in turn look out for suspicious activity to help keep the community safe.

The activities include:

Thursday, July 29

*Open house at the Ripon Police Department, 259 Wilma Ave., from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

*A safety presentation at Bank of Stockton, 234 W. Main St., at 5:30 p.m.

Friday, June 30

*Farmer’s market First Responders Night at Studio Joy, 929 W. Main St.

Saturday, Aug. 1

*Free Shred-It event of documents such as credit card statements to protect against identity theft from 9 a.m. to noon at the Ripon Police Department, 259 N. Wilma Ave.

*Porchfest band festival on various front porches through Ripon from noon to 5 p.m.

Monday, Aug. 4

*Open golf simulator at the Fairway Club, 113 E. Main St,, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Tuesday, Aug. 4

*National Night Out community celebration from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Ripon Community Center, 324 W. Fourth St.
