Well near Mistlin Sports Park will expand water system

The Well 19 Project is a municipal well located in the area of the Mistlin Sports Complex.

Once completed, this new pump station will be connected to the City of Ripon’s potable water system, according to Engineering Supervisor Elizabeth Quilici.

At the Aug. 10 City Council meeting, she mentioned that “Well 19 Project is advertised and should be out for bid this month.”

Bidding for the final construction phase of the pumping and treatment facility is scheduled for Aug. 31.

Included the contract, but not limited to, is: “equipping exiting well mechanical components, yard piping, electrical power and controls, chemical disinfection systems, instrumentation, control building, emergency power system, testing, start-up, training, site improvements, and landscaping.”

The first phase of the project consisting of the drilling of the well was completed in 2019. Wood Rodgers Inc. provided construction oversight back then on the well drilling and provided a summary report with recommendations for the design capacity based on test pumping and water quality.

The second phase called for installing the permanent pump, motor, and site improvements.

HSC Engineering, Inc., which provided electrical drawings for several water wells in Ripon in the past, was brought in the electrical design. Shoreline Environmental Engineering handled the civil, mechanical and structural portion of the design.

The Water Enterprise Capital Fund helped pay for much of this project.
