Ripon students won a Friday noon dance competition against three other elementary schools at the Sequoia School multipurpose room involving more than 200 young dancers from first through eighth grades participating in Give Every Child a Chance tutoring programs.

The gym was filled with excitement as students sitting in the stands cheered on the individual schools as they were demonstrating their dance routines.

Each set of students made up their own choreography with their own student-made props to back up their routines.  They were judged on being prepared from beginning to end and scored on whether their presentation made sense and whether or not they exhibited the basics of dance as well as the sportsmanship they displayed.

Many parents filled the end zones of the gym taking pictures of their children and their groups.  Dance instructor  Harmony Rebeiro with Dance Stars led the four groups of students through their routines.
