Arcadio Gomez passed peacefully into the arms of God with his family at his side in Madera, CA. on Friday. He came into the world on August 9, 1994. Arcadio was a junior at Turlock High. He was preceded in death by his parents Arcadio and Alma.
Arcadio was raised by his paternal grandmother, Gloria Vielma , and his Uncle Eddie. Arcadio was the greatest gift they could have ever received. Together, they lived the love of family and enjoyed many wonderful years together. An integral part of Arcadio’s life was his surrogate sister Jackie Palominos. He never missed the opportunity to adventure with his Uncle German and his cousins German Jr. and Gabby.
People often noted that Arcadio was an example of politeness. He was reserved, considerate and driven by an adventurous spirit. There was no midway, skyline, or gathering of people left unexplored. He could have lived a longer life, but he could not have lived a better one.
Arcadio loved to do business. He was first an apprentice to grandma in her business. They traveled many country roads showing and delivering American Made cookware. Their success was celebrated in such places as Orlando, Milwaukee, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles. Sales allowed Arcadio to be independent in buying for himself the latest fashion and technology.
Arcadio’s first love was his animals. His dream came true in 2006 with the arrival of a Border Collie/ Akita mix named Osito. They became best friends and were super mischievous. In 2007, he adopted Mary Lou the Bombay. She produced two kittens, Suli, and Whiteface. These animals were the light of his life as they clustered to soothe him during his illness.
Arcadio was a drummer. He rocked the house. He was the founding member of the band A Day Late. From where he got his musical talent, nobody knows.
His legacy will be the courage and determination with which he faced his four-year battle with Ewing’s Sarcoma. He was famous at VCH for his comeback from multiple surgeries and for his tolerance for pain. He lived his promise to enjoy life to the fullest and was an inspiration to all. Thank You, Big Daddy. We love you!
