Loved the outdoors

Carlene Opal Graves, 79, passed peacefully away with her family by her side on Dec. 22 in Manteca. She was born Jan. 13, 1929 in Warren, Arkansas, to the late Carl and Audra Jeffers.

Mrs. Graves is survived by her five children Deborah Vierra and husband Junior of Spokane, WA, Lonna Souza and husband Rob of Castro Valley, Becky Sue Graves and companion Azar Martin of Siletz, OR, Terry Quimby and husband Dean of Ripon, and Larry Graves and wife Pamela of Manteca; her sister, Lois Peterson of Santa Cruz; and her 12 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.

Carlene was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend. She was strong-willed and had a great sense of humor. She was often very quiet, but was always a sweet and loving woman who cherished so much in life. She enjoyed reading, gardening, cooking, and playing cards with the family. Carlene loved the outdoors and always looked forward to fishing and traveling.

She was a Manteca resident for the past three years and previously lived in Klickitat, Washington.


Carlene is preceded in death by her treasured husband of 51 years Arthur Graves, who passed away Aug. 9, 1999.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, Dec. 27, 1 p.m. at P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home, 290 N. Union Road, Manteca. Burial will take place Wednesday, Dec. 31, at noon at Lower Lake Cemetery, 9040 Lake Street, Lower Lake, CA.
