Larry Goodin, age 68, of  Concordia, KS, died Thursday, February  6, 2014  at Baldwin City, KS. Larry was born November 14,   1945 to Claude and Alice (Maurer) Goodin in Alameda, CA. The family moved to French Camp, California where he attended grammar school and on to Manteca Union High School, graduating in 1963.
   Larry then enlisted in the United States Navy and married Rhea Kristien, then Margaret O’Donald raising one stepson, Jeff.
   In 1984 he met and married Kay Bauer who preceded him in death. They were married 29 years.
Larry spent most of his Navy duties on board ship. He was aboard the USS Cimarron, the USS Koelsch, the USS Okinawa, and the USS  Marques,with many tours to Vietnam and Subic Bay.
      He also served one assignment as a Senior Training Group in  Guantanamo Bay, Cuba and ran the NCO Club at that base. Larry retired from the Navy as a Master Chief after 20 years serving his country in 1984.
   He  moved  to  Manteca, California and then to French Camp, California, where he went to work for Alameda County, working his way up   to Supervisor of Buildings and Plant Maintenance. One of the buildings he supervised was the newly built Santa Rita Jail, where he had the privilege of working with   his father for a few months. After his retirement in 2003, he and Kay moved to Concordia, KS.                     Kay died early in 2013.          Larry fell in love again with his current best friend, Patsy Owen.
   Larry is survived by:       aunt Elsie Bush, Sparks, Nevada; stepson Jeff  O’Donald, Dalton, Georgia; two sisters, Vivian (Bob)  Rinker, Shoreline, Washington; Janis (Don) Feland, Dill City, Oklahoma; one brother, Bill (Nancy) Goodin, Milton, Florida; and many nephews and nieces.
   Funeral services will be   Friday, February 14, 2014  at 3p.m. at Nutter Mortuary Chapel, Concordia, KSwith   Pastor David Redmond officiating. Visitation will be  Thursday, February13, 2014  from 10a.m. - 8p.m. at Nutter Mortuary. Family will be present from 5p.m.- 7p.m. Memorials may be given to the Concordia Wesleyan Church or Wounded Warriors Foundation. Grave side services with U.S. Navy Military Honors will be held at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.  Please visit  nuttermortuary@yahoo.com for online condolences.
