James W. Ennes, 77, entered into rest surrounded by his loving family on February 20, 2019 in Modesto. He was born November 17, 1941 in Arkansas to the late Samuel and Evelyn Ennes.
James leaves behind his adored wife of 54 years Nancy Ennes of Manteca; his children, David Ennes (Maci) of ID, Kimberly Camara (Jerrold) of Ripon and Cheryl Ennes of Ripon. He was blessed with four grandchildren; Gabrielle Camara, Allie Camara, Jaiden Ennes and Ashlen Ennes. In addition he is survived by siblings; Roy Ennes of Montana, Bob Ennes of Sacramento, Roger Ennes of Stockton and Larry Ennes.
James grew up in Rio Vista. He graduated from Rio Vista High School, and then chose to serve our country in the United States Army.  James moved his family to Manteca in 1973 to take the position of Assistant Fire Chief for the Manteca-Lathrop Fire District.  He was promoted to Fire Chief and after 23 years of service, he retired.  After retirement James would find a new passion in public safety. He would become director of training for Ammonia Safety Training Institute, educating people all over the world. His hard work never went unnoticed. He was strong and determined. He enjoyed the outdoors whether fishing or spending time golfing with friends. He was an avid sports fan, always rooting for the S.F. Giants and the Golden State Warriors.
James loved his family dearly and looked forward to spending time with his grandchildren. James will be remembered as a loving husband, amazing father and special grandfather. He will be deeply missed.
P.L. Fry is honored to serve the Ennes family. A chapel service will be held in his honor on Thursday, February 28, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at P.L. Fry and Son Funeral Home, 290 North Union Road, Manteca.
