Louise A. Montez, 90 yrs., of  Ione, CA, passed away peacefully at her residence on Monday, August 5, 2019, with family and friends by her side.  She was born in San Bernardino, CA, on August 25, 1928, the daughter of Juana Ayala Montez of Durango, Mexico, and Guadalupe Montez of Chihuahua, Mexico.
She is survived by her son, Ted Montez and his wife Kathy of Ione, CA, sisters, Jenny Ortiz of San Jose and Patsy Lopez of Chowchilla.  She is preceded in death by her parents and siblings Santiago, Apolinar, Thomas, Eufemio, Lacho, Manuela Montez, Asuncion Delgado, Mary Bueno, and Margie Gallegos.
Ms. Montez grew up in San Bernardino and attended public school in her early childhood years, prior to relocating to San Jose, CA.  She ultimately relocated to Manteca, CA, where she resided for a greater part of her life, prior to moving to Amador County.
She was employed as a laborer by several packaging companies throughout her life.  While residing in Manteca, she worked for Eckert Cold Storage Company.  Throughout that period, she worked alongside her sister-in-law, Stella Montez.  They were inseparable and would oftentimes shop together and attend family events such as ‘Sunday breakfast’ as well as holidays.  They both ultimately retired from Eckert Cold Storage.  Louise greatly missed Stella after her passing and referred to her as a “true sister.”   Louise was extremely proud of her Mexican heritage and possessed an extremely hard work ethic.  She stressed the importance of receiving an education along to her son, Ted, who is employed as a Supervisor by the California Highway Patrol in the Bay Area.
Ms. Montez had a passion and talent for crocheting, knitting and sewing.  She learned this difficult skill set from her mother during her early years in life.  She became proficient at making ‘doilies’ as well as intricate crotched doll dresses for family and friends.  She will be greatly missed by those whose lives she touched.
Services are scheduled for Saturday, September 28, at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Parish, 11361 Prospect Drive, Jackson, CA, at noon with a reception to follow.  Family and friends are invited to attend the services and immediately following, a reception will be held with refreshments and food.  In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to the Hospice of Amador County.
