Patricia Hofman, age 83, entered peacefully into rest surrounded by her loving family on September 15, 2026. She was born in Turlock, California, on September 3, 1943, to Charles and Janis Crivelli. Patricia was one of four children and grew up on her family’s dairy farm, where her lifelong love of animals began at an early age. She became actively involved in 4-H and was a repeat champion in a variety of classes. Patricia later attended Turlock High School, where she formed many lifelong friendships. After high school, Patricia returned to her love of animals and began a career in veterinary medicine. Her natural compassion and gift for caring for others later led her to work in a pediatrician’s office, where she was able to extend that same caring spirit to children and their families. Shortly thereafter, Patricia met Gerrit around the time he and his brother Steve purchased her parents’ dairy. After Gerrit moved to Manteca to establish his own dairy, Patricia joined him there, and in 1970, they were married. Together, they built a life centered around family, faith, hard work, and the dairy.
From her childhood through her final years, Patricia was happiest outdoors, surrounded by cows and working on the dairy from sunrise to sunset. Hard work was simply part of who she was. When she wasn’t busy on the dairy, she could usually be found supporting her family. She spent countless hours watching her four sons compete in athletics, and as her family grew, that devotion expanded to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She traveled across the country to attend their games, competitions, and other activities and rarely missed an opportunity to cheer them on. More than anything, Patricia treasured her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, Nana, and Great-Nana whose greatest joy came from spending time with those she loved. Patricia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gerrit Hofman, and by her parents, Charles and Janis Crivelli. She is survived by her four sons: Skip (Lesa) Hofman of Ripon, California; Jim (Lindsay) Hofman of Manteca, California; Craig (Linnea) Hofman of Monee, Illinois; and David (Lisa) Hofman of Reno, Nevada. She was a loving Nana to twelve grandchildren: Ashley, Stefani, Kassidi, Grace, Dane, Matthew, Naomi, Austin, Alexandria, Arie, Kaylee, and Kelsey; and a proud Great-Nana to Case and Hesston. Patricia is also survived by her siblings: Charlie III (Earlane) Crivelli of Turlock, California; Harvey (Wanda) Crivelli of Turlock, California; and Donna McMakin of Turlock, California.
A viewing will be held Monday, October 5, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Deegan Funeral Chapel, 111 South Palm Avenue, Ripon, California. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, October 6, at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Reformed Church, 741 West 2nd Street, Ripon, California. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to Ripon Christian Schools or Bethany Home Society of San Joaquin County, Inc., in Ripon, California.
