East Union’s Arianna Pale led three Manteca Unified golfers who finished in the top 10 of Valley Oak League Tournament No. 2 on Tuesday, as she placed sixth on Tuesday with a 95 at Tracy Golf & Country Club.

East Union was the runner-up for a second straight league tournament, once again trailing Oakdale. Paced by medalist Isabella Cortes’ 8-over 80, Oakdale had individuals occupy the top five spots and tallied a team score of 436. East Union was next with a 567. Manteca (598), Mountain House, Patterson (642) and Sierra (656) followed.

Alizae Farias contributed a 10th-place score of 111 for East Union. The Lancers were rounded out by Kaylee Brown (114), Michaela Tarr (123) and Eva Diaz (124).

Manteca’s Layla Flannigan and Deziree Valladarez tied for 11th place with 113s. Dannica Branco contributed a 117 for the Buffaloes and was backed by Neriah Flores’ 124 and Ganiyah Giron’s 131.

Noah Ingua paced Sierra with a 102, which was good for eighth place. Ella Williamson (127), Nikitha Muruganagarajan (139), Pragya Tyagi (142) and Abbey Villalovos (146) made up the rest of the Sierra score.

The VOL Championship is in mid-October at Micke Grove Golf Links.

WAC Tournament

Lathrop came in third place in the Western Athletic Conference Mid-Season Tournament at Creekside Golf Course.

Evangelina Quezada led the Spartans with a 138. Shelby Jauregui and Rachel Rani each carded a 139. Savanna Quezada turned in a 142.

GIRLS TENNIS

Manteca 8, East Union 1

The Buffaloes (5-1 VOL, 9-6-1 overall) swept all singles matches, with wins coming from Hailie Kim (6-0, 6-0), Reina Ngo (6-0, 6-0), Rae Limbago (6-2, 6-1), Saihaj Ghuman (6-0, 6-1), Paisley Coenenberg (6-0, 6-1) and Ekam Ghuman (6-0, 6-0).

Alyson Alvarado and Cat Estrada Perez won at No. 2 doubles, 6-2, 6-0. East Union won the No. 1 doubles match, 2-6, 6-2, 10-5.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

River Islands 3, Venture Academy 0

Ada Morales rung up 20 service points, six of them going for aces, as the visiting Riptide (2-0, 5-10 overall) dominated 25-15, 25-12, 25-10 for the Central California Athletic Alliance win.

The senior outside hitter also had five kills and a block.

Corley Simoni led the attack with 17 assists and eight kills. Leighann Ruiz rapped 12 kills. Jaselle Cliatt added five kills and two blocks, while Makayla Kai Samoranos chipped in seven assists and a kill.

Tracy 12, Ripon 6
Midway through the second period Friday, Ripon’s Jessy Vega and Alex Lopez smothered the Bulldogs quarterback, forcing a fumble for Jacob Bylsma to scoop and score for visiting Ripon’s lone points of the night in non-league action at Wayne Schneider Stadium.
Jonathan Hernandez and Landon Grijalva spearheaded the Ripon offense.
Lopez and Austin McDowell paced the Ripon defense with six tackles. Blysma and Jackson
DeGraff added five stops each with three apiece for Jessy Vega and Blake Austin.
