William L. Zaragoza of Manteca passed away on Monday, February 1, at the age of 77. He was born April 11, 1932 in Tracy, and then moved to Manteca 22 years ago.
Willie worked for H.J Heinz as a kitchen supervisor; he was an active member in the early years of the Cal-Mex baseball league. He was a player and manager for many years. He was an avid San Francisco 49er and Giants fan. He enjoyed his gardening, his B.B. Cues and spending time with all his family. He loved listening to his Mexican music with his wife Frances of 57 years.
Willie is survived by his wife Frances Zaragoza of Manteca; his children, Anthony Zaragoza of Manteca, Charlotte Gonzalez and husband Ray of Merced, Mercedes Zaragoza of Stockton, Josie Garcia and husband Steve of Manteca, William Jr Zaragoza and wife Jessica of Tracy, and Neely Rios of Manteca; his 16 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; his siblings Raymond Zaragoza, Eddie Zaragoza, and Geri Munoz, all of Tracy and Sharon Saenz of Manteca.
Willie was proceeded in death by his infant son Christopher Zaragoza, his parents the late Blas Zaragoza and the late Rose Munoz, his siblings Frank (Fermin) Zaragoza, Carlos Zaragoza, Nellie Marquez, Connie Moreles and Betty Ceniceros.
Visitation will be held Thursday, February 4, from 1 to 7 p.m. followed by a vigil at 7 p.m. at Fry Memorial Chapel, 550 S. Central Ave. Tracy, Ca 95376. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, February 5, at 1 p.m. at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 163 W. Eaton Ave. Tracy, Ca 95376. Final resting place will be private.
