Drain must accept responsibility

Editor, Manteca Bulletin,

I sympathize with Manteca Unified School District trustee Ashley Drain’s supporters who feel that she is capable of doing good things to help children. However, the current circumstances demonstrate that this is not her time.

There was a person on the ballot running for the school board seat against Ashley Drain. That person actually lived in the area. That person is the one who should currently be sitting on the MUSD School Board; not Drain. There are laws that govern elections. We don’t get to pick and choose which laws to obey.

Drain made some mistakes. Now she must face up to the consequences of those mistakes. This is a lesson we all must learn. It’s time for her to accept responsibility for her actions. She’s been charged with multiple counts of election fraud and the court process may take well over a year.

I urge Ashley Drain to do the right thing. We need a school board that is focused on the children of our district. Our children deserve a school board that truly puts the needs of the children first. I urge Ms. Drain resign for the sake of the children, and the community. It is the right thing to do for everyone concerned.
