Jaguars fall to Turlock in Cen-Cal opener

The Central California Junior Football League opener did not go well for the Manteca Jaguars this past Saturday at Turlock High, where they lost at three levels.

The junior varsity squad fell 38-13 despite a big effort from Angel Garay. He scampered for more than 200 yards and scored a touchdown on offense and added a 90-yard interception return for Manteca’s other TD on defense.

Jose Ceja led the defense with 12 solo tackles. Aaron Craig and Joshua Craighead were lauded for their line play.

The varsity team also lost, 38-8. Additional game information was not submitted. Manteca looks to reverse its fortunes this upcoming Saturday at Livingston.

Pee Wee

Vikings 44, Jaguars 0

Trey Moreland registered 11 solo tackles and a fumble recovery on what was a busy outing for the Jaguars defense. Ryan Borgeson paced the offense with 40-plus rushing yards. Fernando Duran was the team’s top lineman.

Rookies

No score is kept at this level in the Cen-Cal, but the Jaguars weren’t without standouts.

Kainoa Ontai spearheaded the offense with more than 100 rushing yards. Ricardo Villalvazo piekced up eight tackles and recovered a fumble for the defense. Kash King and Gabriel Moncada led the linemen.
