Kimball stuns East Union by a stroke

Rebuilding East Union’s longtime reign in the Valley Oak League is likely coming to an end in the coming weeks, and Kimball accelerated the process with a 260-261 upset at Manteca Park Golf Course.

The Lancers (9-3) trails undefeated Oakdale and will need to upset the Mustangs next Tuesday at Oakdale Golf & Country Club and in the VOL Tournament in two weeks to have an outside shot of capturing a share of the title. 

East Union’s Natalie Cowan was low medalist with an 8-over 45. Sophie Whaite of Kimball was the runner-up with a 46.

Haley Leonard also had a solid round for the Lancers with a 47. Kendra Campbell contributed a 50, Pressley Graham a 59 and Kennedy Goodnough a 60.

OAKDALE — Youth-laded Oakdale continued its impressive season with yet another dominant performance at Oakdale Golf & Country Club. Taylor Stuart led the Mustangs with a 1-over 37 score. No Oakdale scorer finished worst than a 44.

Kylie Eberle’s 52 was the low score for Manteca (6-6). Other contributors were Sierra Martinez (53), Taylor Reed (55), Haighley Kissee (57) and Bella Gonzales (61).
